NDA Doulas

Sara Sayre, RN - Omaha, NE (Birth Doula)

image My name is Sara Sayre. I am a nurse, a wife, a mom of three, and a doula! My experience with birth started when I was a young child growing up in a family of 12. As one of the oldest, I was privileged to attend the births of nearly all of my siblings. I grew up with an appreciation for the beauty and power of birth. I also learned early on that the process of birth is not something to be feared or dreaded. I believe birth is to be embraced and celebrated! My own births were powerful and life-changing and have impassioned me to help other women experience the true beauty of birthing. I completed my doula training through DONA in April of 2008. I have attended many births throughout the years which have inspired me to become a doula.

Carrie Laughlin - Omaha, NE (Birth Doula)

imageHi, I’m Carrie Laughlin and the mother of a little girl born March of 2007. We are expecting our second child this December. I was raised in Lincoln, NE and moved to Omaha when I married my husband Wesley. I have my Bachelor of Science degree and have taught high school math since 2002. I just recently put my teaching career on hold to raise our children in the home and to pursue my doula career. My passion for birth is rooted from my own labor and delivery experience. It amazes me that a woman is capable of growing and nurturing another human body. My aspirations as a doula are to empower women with knowledge, to believe in their bodies, and to trust the process of birth.

Angela Konin - Omaha, NE (Postpartum Doula)

imageFollowing the birth of my son Sam in November 2008, I hesitantly returned to my job as a museum educator. I longed to be home with Sam, but for financial reasons was unable to make a change. Recently I have been afforded the opportunity to reconsider my life's path and head in a new direction. In thinking about where I wanted to go next, I knew in short order--the pro-family, educational and loving support of a doula was a perfect fit. And so, I am currently pursuing my postpartum doula certification through DONA.

I am motivated by empowering new families--particularly new mothers--with support and education. The physical and emotional efforts exerted during the first weeks following the birth of a new family member are profound. As your doula I will cheer you on, offer assistance, listen, and provide evidence-based answers to your questions. During our time together, I will offer you some well-earned relief and loads of encouragement as your new family settles in a "Finds your groove."

Mary Cleveland - Omaha, NE (Birth Doula)

imageI'm the mother of three beautiful children, with my husband, Ethan. I fell in love with birth and learning more when my friend asked me to be with her for her birth in early 2007. I was hooked!

After that, I read everything I could get my hands on about birth, including Ina May's Guise to Childbirth, Pushed and more. I started attending a Mother-Friendly Childbirth Initiative seminar and learned what mother care should be like. I went through doula training, and continued reading books & attended more births.

I am very passionate about a mother and father being informed and supporting them through one of the most amazing events in life - bringing a precious child into this world.

I also cloth diaper, breastfeed, have considerable experience in food intolerances, & babywear. I offer belly casting & placenta encapsulation in addition to my birth doula services.
